Peter Hart & Gary Bain - "Laugh or Fly - The Air War"
The Talk: Following on from their successful book, “Laugh or Cry – In The Trenches”, Peter Hart & Gary Bain have written the sequel, "Laugh or Fly - The Air War". This is the talk that accompanies it.
A rip-roaring gallop through the lives of the Royal Flying Corps air crew in the Great War. A serious subject, but delivered in their unique style, with humour and depth of knowledge.
The airmen lived their lives amidst a strange dichotomy as they moved from safety to dire danger, and back again in a matter of hours. This created a dreadful strain that could soon shred anyone’s mental health. Flying personnel were blessed with beds and blankets, had the mess for entertainments, access to drink and sometimes visits to local towns. All well away from the squalor and danger of trench life, but in the air they faced extreme danger. No parachutes and sitting next to a petrol tank waiting to explode. Yet. as you will find out, humour, perhaps dark, was there to be found.
A selection of the authors books will be on offer at very reasonable prices!
