About the Speaker:The German Empire in the Pacific - Where was this? Japan as our ally in WW1 - Who knew that? And China too? The talk will cover: Tsingtao beer and its origin. The Singapore Mutiny and when did Siam enter the war?
This talk looks at Japan's contribution in taking the German enclave at Tsingtao, other little-known events and we meet the only German PoW to escape from Britain - in both World Wars.
For most people WW1 was the trenches on the Western Front, but it really was a 'world' war.
Tickets: Entry is free but we rely totally on donations to cover our costs! - Hall, speaker, drink etc. We suggest £5 per person - or whatever you can afford. You do not need to book to attend, but it would help us if you did (i.e. hall preparation and refreshments etc.).
