*1 Currently we have insufficient information to positively identify this soldier. The St Albans Cathedral Diocese records give his name as Albert Edward Chalkley, suggests a connection to St Ippolyts and that he was a Private in the Royal Lancaster Regiment (Probably King’s Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment). As no candidate for the man has yet been found, and because of the similarity of names, it is perhaps possible that the name is intended to commemorate Albert William Chalkley, however he was recorded as serving in the 1st King Edward's Horse, suggesting this is unlikely.
