*1 Currently we have insufficient information to positively identify this soldier. The St Albans Cathedral Diocese records give his name only as 'F Gibbons', suggests a connection to Hertford and that he was a Private in the Middlesex Regiment (possibly the (Duke of Cambridge’s Own) Middlesex Regiment). As there is a 'F W Gibbins', also a Private in the Middlesex Regiment, listed, they would appear to be different, unless it is a duplication.
