Pre War

*1 Currently we have insufficient information to positively identify this soldier. The St Albans Cathedral Diocese records give his name only as F Clark, suggests a connection to Hertford and that he was a Private in the 'Kitchener's' Army. The latter suggested he volunteered but does not clarify with whom he served. He may be the same man as the F Clark who appears on the Hertford Town Memorial, who we believe to be Private 12812, Francis Clarke, Bedfordshire Regiment, however it also possible, but probably less likely to be that he is Drummer 5409 Archie Ferguson Clark in the Scots Guards, however this man does bot seem to appear on the Herford memorials.
