*1 A James Dunn in the Machine Gun Corps appears on the Little Gaddesden memorials and then a James Bunn in the Machine Gun Corps is listed in the St Albans Cathedral Diocese records. Although not yet proven it would seem likely that they are one and the same person. Looking at both CWGC and SDITGW records for both names it seems most likely that ‘Dunn’ is the correct spelling, as two possibilities have been found that fit the information that we know: Private 57662 (formerly 20446) James Dunn and Private James Dunn 98150 (formerly 34972) both in the Machine Gun Corps, but no connection to Little Gaddesden or indeed Hertfordshire has yet been found for either.
SEE JAMES DUNN for more information.
