Biography

He was born in Essex and was residing in that county at the time he enlisted.


His Corps Number was 7395377 and he died of wounds in Italy. He was buried in Plot 2, Row B, Grave 5 of the Salerno War Cemetery in Italy. 


A private inscription on the headstone reads "Greater love hath no man". He was the son of A and Ellen Markham and the husband of MG. Markham of Alexandra Park, Middlesex. His home was at 157, Bedford Road, Hitchin.
