Born in 1891 in Hertford son of William and Maria Edwards of 15 Brewhouse Lane, St. Andrew's Street, Hertford.
In 1911 he was a butcher’s carman.
Wartime Service
Enlisted at Hertford and was killed in action at the Battle of Ypres (Battle of the Menin Road).
Additional Information
His father, William Edwards of 15 Brewhouse Lane, St Andrews St., Hertford, Herts., ordered his headstone inscription: "SADLY MISSED BY ALL".
William is also commemorated on a grave in Hertford Corporation Cemetery. His inscription reads:
ALSO SON AND DAUGHTER, WILLIAM JAMES, KILLED IN ACTION SEPT. 20TH 1917. AGED 26.
