Frederick George Beacon was the third son born to George Beacon and Sarah nee Pearce on 5th September 1895, the birth was registered in St. Albans, England.
Frederick was baptised on 29th September 1895 at St. Albans Abbey.
In the 1901 census Frederick aged 6 is living with his parents at 5 Lower Dagnall Street, St. Albans, along with his siblings older brothers Charlie aged 18 and Frank aged 15 , both working as Cabinet makers like their father. His sister Elsie aged 10 and younger brother Percy aged 3 years .
His older siblings had been born in Sussex and Kent, so perhaps the family had moved back closer to his mother Sarah’s parents as she has been born in Lemsford, close to St. Albans.
By 1911 Frederick is living in Sandridge village to the north of St. Albans, along with his parents George and Sarah, brothers Frank and Percy and sisters Elsie and Kitty ( Kathleen).
His oldest brother Charlie had married in 1908 and was now living with his wife and son in High Wycombe.
Frederick only aged 15 years has a recorded occupation as ‘Music Inspector’ for a Piano Company.
Wartime Service
He joined the Hertfordshire regiment, service number 204218, rank Private
Military records show he was admitted to the 18th General hospital on 12/11/1917 and discharged in 29 /12/1917.
He received the British and victory medals
Additional Information
Afte the war in the 1921 census he is recorded on the census as being back living with his parents in Sandridge Village , his sister Kitty ( Kathleen ) also at home . He was working as a Smelter for Humphrey and Cooper Ordas Works In the Jul quarter of 1924 his marriage to Beatrice Georgina Barrit from Old, Northamptonshire is recorded at Brixworth , Northamptonshire. When the 1939 register is compiled the couple are living in Tamworth , at 4 Piccadilly. Frederick is working as an Electrician at the Colliery . He had four children with Beatrice, and she predeceased him in 1953, after 29 years of marriage. Frederick died on 21 November 1982 aged 87, in Kingsbury near Tamworth Staffordshire.
