Biography
The Parish Magazine of October 1915 records Arthur, who was serving in the 5th East Surrey Regiment, as ‘indirectly connected to Pirton’. Unfortunately parish and census records provide no further information, however Patti Salter adds the following information: Arthur’s probable connection to Pirton is the fact that his sister, Mary, from Weston, Herts married to Caleb Hanscombe of Pirton. Arthur was born on December 17th 1876 and was the son of George and Eliza Buck (née Lee).
