Son of William John and Jessie Ann (nee HALCROW or AUSTIN) MORTON.
His parents married 17 August 1890 at St Augustine’s, Croydon, Surrey. Jessie married again 1916 in the Watford district to William Douglas YOUNG. William MORTON died 1958 in the Croydon district aged 85. William YOUNG died 1958 aged 81; Jessie died 1960 aged 83; both in the Watford district.
Lawrence MORTON was born 3 October 1897 in Croydon, and baptised 5 December 1897 at St Augustine’s, Croydon. He attended Parkgate Boys’ School, Watford; then Alexandra School, Watford, from 30 August 1910 to 27 July 1912.
On the 1901 Census, Lawrence MORTON aged 3 lived in Croydon, with his parents and two siblings. On the 1911 Census, aged 13 he lived in Watford, with his mother, step-father and two siblings.
Wartime Service
He enlisted in Horsham, Sussex, and was formerly Private 3450 Royal Sussex Regiment.
He was entitled to the Victory and British War medals, and was killed in action.

Unfortunately, Lawrence’s Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
