Son of the late Thomas Benjamin and Sarah (nee PAICE) WOOLDRIDGE; husband of Alice Ethel (nee CLEMENTS) WOOLDRIDGE.
His parents married 1873 in the Eton, Bucks, district. Thomas died 1895 aged 44; Sarah died 1914 aged 64; both in the Eton district.
Charles was born 1880 in Windsor, Berks, and married 1908 in the Eton district. He resided in Watford. Alice remarried 1920 in the Watford district to Emery CHURCHER, and died 14 September 1970 in King’s Langley, Herts, aged 95.
He has an entry in the National Probate Calendar.
On the 1881 Census, aged 1 he lived in Cleaver, Berks, with his parents and three siblings. On the 1891 Census, a scholar aged 11, he lived in Stoke Poges, Bucks, with his parents and six siblings. On the 1901 Census, a steeplejack aged 21, he was a visitor in Clapham, London. On the 1911 Census, a beer retailer aged 32, he lived in Slough, Bucks, with his wife and no children.
Wartime Service
He enlisted in London, and was formerly Private 34915 Royal Flying Corps.
He was entitled to the Victory and British War medals, and was killed in action.
Additional Information
Unfortunately, Charles’ Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing. There is an article about and a Death announcement for Charles in the West Herts and Watford Observer dated 31 August 1918.
