Son of Walter and the late Georgina/Eugenia (nee GALBRAITH) WILTSHIER of Bow, London; husband of Clara Madeline Elizabeth (nee D’ARCY) WILTSHIER of Watford.
His parents married 14 May 1883 at St Mary’s, Islington, London. Georgina died 1912 in the Poplar, London, district aged 48; Walter died 1931 in the Islington district aged 69.
Walter was born 23 February 1884 in Islington, and baptised 25 May 1884 at St Mary’s, Islington. He married 24 March 1910 at St Mary’s, Watford; they had three children. Clara never remarried, and died 14 January 1975 in Croxley Green, Herts, aged 88.
On the 1891 Census, a scholar aged 7 he lived in Islington, with his parents and two siblings. On the 1901 Census, a printer’s machine minder aged 17, he lived in Bow, with his parents and four siblings. On the 1911 Census, a letterpress printing machine minder aged 27, he lived in Watford, with his wife and one child.
Wartime Service
He enlisted in Watford, and was formerly Private 110509 Royal Army Service Corps.
He was entitled to the Victory, British War and 1914-15 Star medals, his qualifying date being 25 June 1915, and was killed in action.
Additional Information
Unfortunately, Walter’s Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
