Son of Charles Benjamin and Annie (nee PRATT) WEATHERLEY.
His parents marriage is proving elusive. Annie died 1912 in Watford aged 51, and was buried 23 February in Vicarage Road Cemetery. Charles remarried 6 July 1919 at St Mary’s, Marylebone, London, to Susan Eliza WATSON, and died 21 May 1920 at the Middlesex Hospital aged 63; Susan died 1934 in the Marylebone district aged 73.
Frederick was born 29 November 1894 in either Willesden or Kilburn, London, and attended Beechen Grove Board School, Watford, from 28 October 1902 to 3 February 1903.
On the 1901 Census, aged 6 he lived in Willesden, with his parents and two brothers. On the 1911 Census, a butcher aged 17, he was a boarder in Watford.
Wartime Service
He enlisted 17 April 1915 at Trentham, New Zealand, for the Duration of the War: a barman, 5’11” tall, Protestant; his next-of-kin his brother Charles.
He embarked 14 August 1915 aboard either H.M.N.Z.T. Willochra or Tofua to Suez, and joined his unit at Mudros.
He later embarked for France 6 April 1916, and was attached to No. 3 Machine Gun Corps 18 June 1916.
He was entitled to the Victory, British War and 1914-15 Star medals, and was killed in action.
