Son of Henry Philip and Susan (nee BRADLEY) WARNES of Watford.
His parents married 1890 in the Woolwich, London, district. Henry died 1948 in Watford aged 81, and was buried 28 April in Vicarage Road Cemetery, Watford; Susan died 1954 in Watford aged 87, and was buried 27 November, also in Vicarage Road Cemetery.
William was born 4 March 1889 in Watford, and attended first Red Lion Yard Infants’ School, Watford; then Beechen Grove Board School, Watford, from 10 February 1896 to 19 February 1903. He resided in Watford.
On the 1891 Census, aged 2 he lived in Watford, with his parents and one sibling. On the 1901 Census, aged 12 he still lived in Watford, with his parents and three siblings. On the 1911 Census, a carman aged 22 he still lived in Watford, with his parents and four siblings.
Wartime Service
He enlisted in London; was entitled to the Victory, British War and 1914 Star medals, his qualifying date being 9 November 1914, and was killed in action.
Additional Information
Unfortunately, William’s Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
