4782 (or 4783 – needs confirming) 4th Bedfordshire Regiment: a labourer, C of E,
of Watford, aged 17, 5’5½” tall.
He re-attested 22 September 1914 at Valcartier in the 4th
Battalion, Canadian Infantry, (1st Central Ontario Regiment). Aged 25, single,
a Farmer, and next of kin given as his mother Louisa Stacey, living in
Leicester, England. |He was recorded as a farmer aged 25, 5’11” tall, C of E;
next-of-kin his mother of Leicester.
Additional Information
There is an article about John in the West Herts and Watford Observer dated 5 August 1916. His effects were left to his mother Louisa Stacey. Both his service records (1904 & 1914) can be found on the internet. His brother James died 18 April 1918 and also features on Watford Borough Roll of Honour.
