Son of Elizabeth TIMSON (formerly SMITH, nee BRADLEY) of Watford and Joseph SMITH; husband of Florence Margaret COLLINS (formerly SMITH, nee MAWBY) of Watford.
His parents married 1878 in the Worcester district.
William was born 5 June 1889 in the Pershore, Worcs, district, and attended St Paul’s School, Worcester, from 17 December 1894 to 22 May 1903. He married 1912 in the Market Harborough, Leics, district; they had one child. He resided in Watford. Florence remarried 1919 in the Watford district to William H COLLINS and died 1944 in the Watford district aged 51.
On the 1891 Census, aged 1 he lived in Worcester, with his parents and six siblings. On the 1901 Census, aged 12 he still lived in Worcester, with his parents and seven siblings. On the 1911 Census, a Private in the Worcestershire Regiment aged 21, he was stationed in Parkhurst, Isle of Wight.
Wartime Service
He enlisted in London; was entitled to the Victory, British War and 1914 Star medals, his qualifying date being 5 November 1914, and was killed in action.
Additional Information
Unfortunately, William’s Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
