Son of William Haines and the late Mary Jane (nee NORMAN) SALMON.
His parents married 25 May 1874 at St Matthew’s, Widcombe, Somerset. Mary died 1915 in Watford aged 66, and was buried 9 June in Vicarage Road Cemetery, Watford; William died 1925 in the Tendring, Essex, district aged 74.
Arthur was born 1877 in Hampstead, London, and baptised 30 September 1877 at St Mary’s, Kilburn, London. He resided in Watford.
On the 1881 Census, aged 4 he lived in Kilburn, with his parents and two siblings. On the 1891 Census, a scholar aged 13 he lived in Willesden, London, with his parents and five siblings. On the 1901 Census, a clerk at a brewery aged 23, he lived in Kensal Green, London, with his parents and four siblings. On the 1911 Census, a commercial book keeper aged 33, he lived in Watford, with his parents and one sibling.
Wartime Service
He enlisted at St James Street, London S.W., and was formerly Private 479 Royal Fusiliers. He was entitled to the Victory and British War medals, and was killed in action.

Unfortunately, Arthur’s Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
