Pre War
Son of James and Margaret (nee BROWN) ROBERTSON of Edinburgh.
His parents probably married in Scotland or Ireland.
James was born 1888 In Belfast, and resided in Wealdstone, Middx.
On the 1891 Census, the family are assumed to be in Ireland. On the 1901 Census, aged 12 he lived in South Manchester, with his parents and six siblings. On the 1911 Census, an etcher at poster printers aged 22, he lived in Wealdstone, with his parents and six siblings.
Wartime Service
He enlisted in London, and was formerly Private GS/2209 Royal Fusiliers. He was entitled to the Victory, British War and 1914-15 Star medals, his qualifying date being 15 November 1915, and died at 20 Casualty Clearing Station of wounds received in action.
Additional Information
Unfortunately, James’ Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing. James is probably the J ROBERTSON commemorated by Watford Printers.
