Pre War

Before the war served in the Metropolitan Police Force and was related to the Baldock Mabbitt family.

Wartime Service

He volunteered in the early stages of the war and was seriously wounded at Arras in April 1917.

He was invalided home and when they thought he had recovered, worked for a few weeks as a commissionaire for the Spirella Company in Letchworth, living at 34 Shott Lane, Letchworth. Unfortunately his old wound re-opened and despite treatment at the hospital in Cambridge, died there.

His funeral was undertaken in Willian and he was buried there.  He was attended by a firing party and bugler from the Royal Engineers.
