Pre War

Son of Alfred William and Elizabeth Sarah (nee EATON) EATON of Watford.

His parents married 30 November 1892 at Holy Trinity, Northwood, Middx.  Elizabeth died 1931 in the Witney, Oxon, district aged 63, and was buried 13 September at Standlake, Oxon; Alfred died 28 February 1946 in Chipping Norton, Oxon, aged 78, and was buried 4 March at Standlake.

William was born 1 December 1894 in Leverstock Green, Herts, and baptised 13 January 1895 at Holy Trinity, Leverstock Green.  He resided in Watford.

On the 1901 Census, aged 6 he lived in Watford, with his parents and two siblings.  On the 1911 Census, in printing aged 16, he still lived in Watford, with his parents and four siblings.

Wartime Service

He enlisted in Hertford; was entitled to the Victory and British War medals, and died at No. 1 Field Ambulance of wounds received in action.  

Additional Information

Unfortunately, Alfred’s Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
