Son of Charles WOODWARD and Mary Ann EARL (nee WOODFORD) of Watford.
His mother originally married 1884 in the West Ham, Essex, district to Samuel George EARL. He died 1945 in the Camberwell, London, district aged 82; Charles died 1922 in the Watford district aged 77; Mary died 11 February 1950 in Watford aged 86, and was buried 16 February in Vicarage Road Cemetery, Watford.
Albert was born 20 July 1896 in Battersea, London, and baptised 17 October 1900 at Christ Church, Battersea.
On the 1901 Census, Albert WOODWARD aged 4 lived at 19 Ingrave Road, Battersea, with his mother, “stepfather” and two siblings. On the 1911 Census, at school aged 14 he lived at 73 Denison Road, Collier’s Wood, Surrey, with his mother, “stepfather” and one sibling; though Charles and Mary are listed on separate sheets.
Wartime Service
He enlisted 29 November 1915 at Kingston-on-Thames, Surrey: a roundsman aged 19, 5’2½” tall, C of E; his next-of-kin his mother of Watford.
He died at Dover Military Hospital of gall stones, and was not entitled to any medals.

His half-brother Thomas died 31 May 1916 and is also included on this Roll of Honour
