Son of the late William and Elizabeth (nee COOPER) DADSON; husband of Alice (nee CLARK) DADSON.
His parents married 27 April 1974 at St Marylebone Parish Church, London. Elizabeth died 1891 in the Paddington, London, district aged 42; William died 1913 in the Kensington, London, district aged 72, and was buried 16 May in St Pancras Cemetery, Camden, London.
John was born 23 January 1884 in Marylebone, and baptised 13 December 1886 at St Mary’s, Paddington. He married 4 July 1909 at Christ Church, Mayfair, London; they had three children. He resided in Watford. Alice remarried 1917 in the Watford district to John O BUCKLEY, and died 1961 in the St Alban’s, Herts, district aged 83.
On the 1891 Census, aged 7 he lived in Paddington, with his parents and five siblings. On the 1901 Census, an assistant in the boot trade aged 17, he still lived in Paddington, with his widowed father and two siblings. On the 1911 Census, a delivery porter aged 26, he lived in Watford, with his wife and one child.
Wartime Service
He enlisted 3 June 1916 in Watford, and was formerly Private 29895 Bedfordshire Regiment.
He was entitled to the Victory and British War medals, and was killed in action.
Additional Information
Unfortunately, John’s Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
He has a listing in that De Ruvigny's Roll of Honour.
