Charles was born 1896 in Derby, and baptised 14 October 1898 at Christ Church, Coventry.  He attended Hinksey National School, Oxford; then Beechen Grove Board School, Watford, from 7 January 1908 to 22 July 1910.  He resided in Watford.

Wartime Service

He enlisted in Hertford, and was formerly Private 4725 Hertfordshire Regiment.

Additional Information

Unfortunately, Charles’ Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing. There is an article about and a Death announcement for Charles in the West Herts and Watford Observer dated 6 April 1918. Has a entry in the National Roll of the Great War.
