Hugh was born to Mary L Blane (XXXX) and Rodney Blane, Naval officer 1885. He was the youngest son of 3 brothers. He was gazetted 2nd Lieut. on 5th Aug 1905 and attached for a year to the Wiltshire Regt. He was then posted to 19th Lancers (Indian Army) 18th Nov 1906. He promoted to Lieutenant 5th Nov 1907 and Captain 5th Aug 1914.
He had married on 27th April 1914 to Marie Josephine O'Callaghan.
At some time he was attached 5th Dragoon Guards (Queen Charlotttes Own).
Wartime Service
He was wounded on 31st October 1914 and died of his wounds in Field Hospital on Following Day 1st Nov 1914.

His Brothers also served. Sir Charles Rodney Blane Cmdr RN died at Jutland (Queen Mary). James P Bland (Kings Royal Rifle Corps was killed in Flanders 23Nov 1915.
