Additional Information

His headstone is a non-service shape CWGC headstone. The CWGC say "With regard to your query, after the war during our process of registering the graves in the UK, the grave of J G Coleman was initially classified as a non war, civilian casualty, as would have been confirmed to us by the War Office. His grave was, at the time, marked with a military style headstone - (our specially designed 'non war headstones' (with the clipped corners) were not developed until the the 1950s.) When the headstone required replacement in the late 1960s, our official non war headstone was used to mark the grave. His details do not appear on our website, as is customary with all non war graves under our care, our primary remit being the commemoration of the servicemen and women of the First and Second World War."
