The Herts Advertiser of November 1917 records Horace as 19, in the Sherwood Foresters. Enlisted in 1914, going to France in 1916 and killed in action on October 9th 1916 and formerly employed at Messrs. Day's straw hat factory.

Additional Information

His brother Lance Corporal Alfred Stone was reported as 28 in the Buffs and missing in action since 24th June 1917. However the records that fits from the CWGC is Albert Stone (regiment and date of death fits). Brothers Thomas Charles and James also served.
