Fred Howard had enlisted in the Beds Regiment in September 1910 and transferred to the Grenadier Guards early in 1911, serving for three years.
He joined Beds Constabulary early in 1914. At the first rumours of war he was recalled to the army.
Wartime Service
“Fred came back a wreck, wounded and suffering from nephritis and in need of all the care mother and Kinsbourne Green folk could give.”
