Biography

William Wade was born in 1885 at Abbots Langley. He was recorded in the 1911 Census living with his wife at 33 Railway Terrace, Abbots Langley. He lived next door to Ernest Roome (32 Railway Terrace), who was killed in action in France on 27th March 1918 during the German Spring Offensive.

William was recorded for the first time in the Abbots Langley Parish Magazine Roll of Honour in July 1916, however, the unit with which he served was not listed. At some point before January1917 he had transferred to the 8th Battalion of the Northamptonshire Regiment, and remained with this unit until the end of the War. He was listed in the Absent Voter Records for Abbots Langley for Autumn 1918 and Spring 1919, however no other details other than his name were registered.

William Wade survived the War.
