Biography

Frederick Leek was listed in the Absent Voter Records for Abbots Langley in Autumn 1918 and Spring 1919. He was initially identified from the Absent Voter Records and was not recorded elsewhere in the Abbots Langley Parish records. In the Absent Voter Records Frederick was listed serving with the 380th Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery and his address was given at The Entrance Lodge, Abbots Hill, Abbots Langley.

Frederick was born on 11th January 1898 at Penkridge in Staffordshire. He was one of two children born to Frederick (senior) and Louisa Leek. At the time of the 1901 Census the family lived at Mill Street, Penkridge, where Frederick (senior) worked as a Carpenter. It is not known when or why Frederick (junior) came to the Abbots Langley area, however in the winter of 1921 he married Florence Biggerstaff from Hemel Hempstead.

Frederick Leek survived the War.
