Biography
Frederick Hince was born in spring 1880 at Islington. He was the younger of two sons born to Thomas and Hannah Hince. His older brother, William, also served in the Great War. In the 1881 Census the family lived at 7 Wolsey Road, Islington. Thomas worked as a Carpenter and employed three men, two boys and a servant.
On 14th June 1906 Frederick married Alice May, and a son was born in 1907 and a daughter in 1909, whilst the family lived at Orpington, Kent. In the 1911 Census he was shown employed by the Metropolitan Asylum Board as a Plumber at the Leavesden Asylum. The family lived at 30 Marlin Square Abbots Langley.
Sometime after the inception of the Royal Air Force in April 1918 Frederick joined that service, and was first recorded in the Abbots Langley Parish Magazine Roll of Honour in December 1918.
