Biography

The record for James Frederick Hall is difficult to confirm. The Abbots Langley Parish Magazine Roll of Honour listed Frederick Charles Hall from August 1916 through to January 1917. From that point Frederick Charles was not recorded, whereas James Frederick Hall was recorded from January 1917 through to the end of the War, serving with the Royal Irish Fusiliers. It is presumed that this was the same man, and that he was born in Salperton Gloucestershire in 1895, the son of James and Emma Hall. In the 1911 Census James was listed working as a General Labourer employed by the Urban Council. James (senior) and Emma had three sons and one daughter, and lived at 54 Brighton Road, Callowland, Watford. James (junior) worked as an Assistant Confectioner at a Cocoa Works (Chocolate Manufacturer).

In the March 1918 Parish Magazine James was reported wounded, and Discharged Disabled.

James survived the War. His exact association with Abbots Langley is unknown, however he was recorded in the Abbots Langley Roll of Honour from August 1916 to December 1918.
