Biography
William Dimmock was born in Pinner in 1888 the son of William (senior) and Fanny Dimmock. William (senior) was employed as a Stable Man, and the couple had two sons. By 1901 the Census recorded Fanny Dimmock living with her three sons at 23 Hammerfield, Boxmoor. At that point her husband was not listed, but was presumed to be still alive as Fanny was not recorded as a Widow.
In 1908 William (junior) married (Emily) and by 1911 the couple had a daughter and a son, and were living at 30 Apsley End. William (junior) worked as a Packer at G.B Kent & Son’s Brush Factory in Apsley.
The Abbots Langley Parish Magazine Roll of Honour listed William Dimmock between December 1916 and January 1917, and he was shown serving as a Driver with the Royal Engineers. It is not known why he was recorded for such a short time, or what his link to the village was?
