Biography

Arthur Cox was born at Abbots Langley in the autumn of 1899. He was the eldest child of Arthur and Minnie Cox, who in 1911 lived in Troley Bottom, where Arthur (senior) worked as a Labourer. The couple had three sons and three daughters.

Arthur was first listed in the Abbots Langley Parish Magazine Roll of Honour in September 1915, when he would have been 16 years old, and was recorded through to January 1917. His name was not listed again until January 1918, which indicated that he may have been wounded and returned to England for treatment and recuperation at some point in 1917. He was recorded in the Magazine from January 1918 through to the end of the War, serving with the Royal Engineers.

Arthur Cox survived the War.
