Biography
Reginald Young was first recorded in the Abbots Langley Parish Magazine Roll of Honour in July 1916, serving with the 5th Battalion of the East Kent Regiment. He continued to be listed in the Roll of Honour until the end of 1917, and was not recorded from January 1918 onwards.
A Reginald Herman Young was born in 1881 at Hendon, and it is possible that this man was the person listed in the Abbots Langley records. However, it has not been possible to confirm this, or establish his association with the village. At the time of the 1901 Census the Young family lived at Park Mansions, Chapter Road, Willesden. Reginald was employed as a Stockbroker’s Clerk, and his father, John, worked as a Secretary to a Company. Reginald had two brothers and two sisters and the family employed two servants. By 1911 the family had moved to 28 Blenheim Gardens, Cricklewood, NW London. Reginald was employed as a Secretary to a Public Company.
Reginald Young survived the War.
