Biography

Harry Weston was born on 8th November 1886 at Watford. He was one of ten children (six sons and four daughters) born to Alfred and Elizabeth Weston. Harry’s brother Percy also served in the Great War.

At the time of his birth the family lived at Fearnley Street, Watford, but by the time of the 1901 Census they had moved to 1 Cardiff Street in the town. Alfred Weston worked as a General Labourer and Harry was employed as an Errand Boy for the Post. Alfred was not included in the 1911 Census and is presumed to have died as Elizabeth was listed as the Head of Household. In 1911 Harry was employed as a Labourer in Saw Mills.

Harry was recorded in the Abbots Langley Parish Magazine Roll of Honour for the first time in January 1917, serving with the 5th Battalion of the Bedfordshire Regiment. He was listed with this unit through to the end of the War. He also listed in the Absent Voter Records for Abbots Langley for Autumn 1918, serving with the Bedfordshire Regiment. He gave his address at Bedmond.

Harry Weston survived the War, as did his brother Percy.
