Biography

Herbert Tracey was first recorded in the Abbots Langley Parish Magazine Roll of Honour in December 1916. It has not been possible to trace any other information which links this man to the Abbots Langley area. In December 1916 he was listed serving with the Royal Navy aboard HMS “Swiftsure”, a pre-Dreadnaught battleship. After serving at Gallipoli and in the Mediterranean, from 1916 HMS “Swiftsure” was assigned to convoy patrols in the North Atlantic.

However after appearing in the Abbots Langley Parish Roll of Honour for just one month, Herbert was not listed from January 1917 through to the end of the War.

It is presumed that Herbert survived the War.
