Biography
Frederick Twitchell was listed in the Absent Voter Records for Abbots Langley in Spring 1919. He was initially identified from the Absent Voter Records and was not recorded elsewhere in the Abbots Langley Parish records. In the Absent Voter Records Frederick was listed serving with the Royal Field Artillery (RFA) and his address was given at Lock House, Nash Mills, Abbots Langley.
Frederick was born on 22nd July 1898 at Abbots Langley. He was one of five children born to George and Elizabeth Twitchell. At the time of the 1901Census the family lived at Railway Terrace, and George worked as a Hay Binder. By 1911 the Census recorded that the family lived at Lock House, Nash Mills, and George was employed by the Grand Junction Canal as a Labourer.
It is not known when Frederick enlisted. His Medal Roll indicated that when he enlisted he was a member of the Royal Field Artillery Territorials with the rank of Gunner. He completed his period of service with the Royal Field Artillery, and returned to the family home at the Lock House, Nash Mills.
Frederick Twitchell survived the War.
