Biography

Joe Naylor was born in 1891 at Eton. He was one of three children (two sons and a daughter) born to John and Emma Naylor of 10 Eton Court, Eton. John Naylor worked as a Tailor.

By the time of the 1911 the Census Joe Naylor and his wife Lily lived at Asylum Road, Abbots Langley. Joe and Lily had married in the winter of 1911, and in the Census of the same year he was listed working as a Groom/Gardener.

Joe was first recorded in the Abbots Langley Parish Magazine Roll of Honour in October 1917, serving with the Royal Fusiliers. The Parish Magazine noted that a daughter was born to Joe and Lily Naylor on 4th November 1917.

In the January 1918 Roll of Honour Joe was recorded more specifically with the 24th Royal Fusiliers, and at some point in the same year he transferred to the 4th Battalion of the Royal Fusiliers.

He was listed in the Autumn 1918 and Spring 1919 Absent Voter Records, serving with the Royal Fusiliers, and his address was given at Asylum Road, Abbots Langley.

Joe Naylor survived the War.
