Biography
James Nash married Julia Gentle at Abbots Langley on 21st September 1918 and became one of a few men recorded in the village Great War records through marriage. Julia Gentle was born and lived at Bedmond, and her nephews, Arthur and Harry Gentle served in the Great War. Harry survived the War, however Arthur was killed in action at Delville Wood on the Somme on 31st August 1916.
James Nash was born in the summer of 1888 at Clewer, Bray, Berkshire. He was one of four children born to Thomas and Jane Nash. In the 1891 Census the family was recorded living at Bray in Berkshire, where Thomas was employed as a Gamekeeper. James moved from the family home and in 1911 was lodging at an address at Bedmond, where he worked as a Gamekeeper.
James was not recorded in the Abbots Langley Parish Magazine Roll of Honour and was identified through the research work of Helen George.
James Nash survived the War.
