Biography
Ernest Funnell was born in the spring of 1879 at Brighton, the eldest of two sons and two daughters born to Joseph and Miriam Funnell. In the 1891 Census Joseph Funnell worked as a Baker.
By the time of the 1911 Census Ernest was listed as a Boot Retailer, and was living at the High Street, Abbots Langley. Ernest Funnell had married in 1905, and by 1911 had one son and four daughters.
The Abbots Langley Parish Magazine Roll of Honour first recorded Ernest in March 1918 serving with a Training Battalion. He was listed in the Absent Voter Records in Autumn 1918 and Spring 1919, serving with a Labour Battalion, and his address was given at High Street Abbots Langley.
Ernest Funnell survived the War
