Biography

Leonard Flint was one of three brothers from Abbots Langley that served in the Great War. Leonard was born in the summer of 1892 at Abbots Langley. His parents, Reuben and Emily Flint had nine children (four sons and five daughters), and lived at 46 Marlin Square at the time of the 1901 Census. Reuben worked as a Stationary Engine Stoker. In the 1911 Census Leonard was recorded living at the family home in Marlin Square, and working as a Carpenter.

The Abbots Langley Parish Magazine Roll of Honour first listed Leonard in December 1917, and noted that he was serving with the Royal Naval Air Service (RNAS). Leonard was recorded with the RNAS, and latterly with the Royal Air Force (RAF), after its formation in April 1918, to the end of the War. He was also listed in the Absent Voter Records of Autumn 1918 and Spring 1919, serving with the RAF, his address was given at Cecil Lodge Cottages, Abbots Langley.

Leonard Flint survived the War, as did his brothers Jeffrey and Maurice.
