Biography

Albert Friary was listed in the Absent Voter Records for Abbots Langley in Autumn 1918, Spring 1919 and Autumn 1919. He was initially identified from the Absent Voter Records and was not recorded elsewhere in the Abbots Langley Parish records. In the Absent Voter Records Albert was listed serving as an Able Seaman with the Royal Naval Air Service (RNAS) aboard HMS “Lord Nelson”, and his address was given at 5 Garden Road, Abbots Langley. It is believed that HMS “Lord Nelson” was a shore base at Portsmouth.

In the Absent Voter Records Albert was listed serving with the Royal Nava Air Service, which by that time no longer existed, having been amalgamated with the Royal Flying Corps to form the Royal Air Force on 1st April 1918.

Albert’s only link with Abbots Langley was through his address at Garden Road in the Absent Voter Records.

Albert Friary survived the War.
