Biography
Arthur Freeman was born at Kings Langley in the summer of 1881, one of three children born to Robert and Eliza Freeman, at 6 Water Lane. Robert worked as a Labourer, and in the 1901 Census, and Arthur as an Operator in a Flour Mill. For the 1901 Census entry Water Lane was indicated as part of Parish of Abbots Langley. Whilst this was incorrect, Arthur Freeman was listed in the Abbots Langley Parish Magazine Roll of Honour from December 1914, serving as a Private with the 4th Battalion of the Bedfordshire Regiment, throughout the period of the War.
Arthur’s Medal Roll recorded that he transferred to the Lancashire Fusiliers and later to the Machine Gun Corps.
Arthur survived the War.
