Biography
Thomas Baldwin was first identified listed in the Absent Voter Records for Abbots Langley for Autumn 1918. He was not recorded in other Parish records. In the Absent Voter Record he was shown serving as a Private with the 13th Battalion of the London Regiment, the “Kensingtons”. His address was given at 17 Marlin Square, Abbots Langley. The “Kensington’s” had mobilised at Abbots Langley in August 1914, and had left for France in November of the same year. It is not known when Thomas joined up.
It is thought that Thomas was born at Wealdstone in 1901 or 1902, and he may have enlisted under-age towards the end of the War. He was one of five children born to Albert and Hannah Baldwin. Albert had been born at Tring, but in 1911 the family lived at 12 Stirling Terrace, Stirling Road, Wealdstone. Albert worked as a Driver of a Baker’s Cart.
Thomas Baldwin survived the War.
