Born Kingston-upon-Thames 18th March 1899.
The 1901 census records the family living at Ebury Place, Talbot Road. The father William Ling is aged 32 a gas fitter and bell hanger. His parents were Wiuliam and is Ann Tilbury Ling aged 30. Annie Grace Ling is aged 9 and William Ling is 2.
In the 1911 census the address is given as 60 Talbot Road. The father William is aged 43, a gas fitter born in Scarborough. The mother Ann is aged 40 and was born in Penn, Bucks. Sister Ann is aged 19 and was born in Penn. William is aged 12 and was born at Kingston-upon-Thames.
Recorded as enlisting in Watford.

Died in an aeroplane accident after his aircraft crashed from 200 feet at Spittlegate Aerodrome in Lincolnshire on 14th June 1918, aged 19.
The plane had stalled on a turn and went into a nose-dive. Died at home following the plane crash
