In the 1901 census the family are recorded as living in Uxbridge Road at a bakers shop. The family comprised father Charles Lambourne aged 39, a baker, born at Isley, Bedfordshire, mother Mary Ann aged 37 born in Rickmansworth, son John M aged 12, daughters Edith M, Florence E and Lillian E, all born in Rickmansworth.
In the 1911 census Mary Ann now aged 47 is listed as the baker with John Mortimer 22 managing the bakery business. Edith Mary, 20 is an assistant in a book shop and Florence Elizabeth and Lillian Emma are assistant confectioners.
Wartime Service
Formerly 984 Royal Fusiliers.
The 12th Division had been in the fighting on the Somme and on 16th August 1916 had arrived after 5 successive days of marching in the vicinity of Arras, where on most days portions of Arras were shelled and the railway line machine gunned at night - an 'unhealthy spot'.
He died during the Battle of Poziers.
