Hunsdon War Memorial, Memorial Plaque St Dunstan’s Church, Hunsdon

Pre War

The Hertford Mercury dated 26th May 1917 reported that Edwin was born in Hunsdon and that he had lived there  for practically all his life and was a member of the cricket club.


He was married and had a daughter.

Wartime Service

He was wounded in France and died in hospital in Herne Bay. 


His funeral was held on May 18th, with officers and men from Hertford formed a military escort firing three volleys over the grave and a bugle sounded the last post.
