Pre War
The Hertford Mercury dated 26th May 1917 reported that Edwin was born in Hunsdon and that he had lived there for practically all his life and was a member of the cricket club.
The St Albans Cathedral Diocese records confirms a connection to Hunsdon (or Hunston), records list him as a Private in the Royal Fusiliers.
He was married and had a daughter.
Wartime Service
He was wounded in France and died in hospital in Herne Bay.
His funeral was held on May 18th, with officers and men from Hertford formed a military escort firing three volleys over the grave and a bugle sounded the last post.
