Albert Henry was born in Esher in 1887, the eldest son of Henry Foster, Farm labourer, and Alice (nee Strudwick).


On the 1901 Census Albert was working as a garden boy. Albert married Jennie D. M. Hollowell in 1915.

Wartime Service

Albert enlisted in 6th (Service) Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment as Private 25475. His service number suggests a date of April 1916. 


The 6th were engaged in the Somme Offensive of 1916. Albert was killed during a large scale action on 25 October 1916, while the 6th were involved in the Battle of Ancre Heights.
