Arthur Leonard was born on 2 Oct 1878 in Bognor, Sussex to Arthur Gough Harvie, a solicitor, and Emma Frances (nee Strachey).
On the 1891 Census the family had moved to Castle Road, Bedford and Arthur was being educated at Bedford Modern School from 1892 to 1894. Arthur moved to London and on 1911 Census was boarding at Highgate, Hornsey London and working as a Bank Clerk. He later resided at Harrow –on-the-Hill.
Wartime Service
Arthur was enlisted in the 6th Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment as Private 47502.
On 18 Sep 1918 his division were involved in the Battle of Epehy, part of the actions of Breaking the Hindenberg Line. Arthur was killed during this action.
